Beyond Hashtags: Real Ways to Support Women Artists & Entrepreneurs

Look,I get it. International Women's Day can feel like a corporate hashtag parade. But here's the thing: supporting women artists and women-owned businesses shouldn't be a one-day thing. It's about recognizing that a world where women thrive is a world where everyone thrives. And frankly, it’s about time.

Supporting Women Artists:

You want original art? Stop buying mass-produced garbage. Invest in women artists. They're not just creating pretty pictures; they're putting their souls on canvas. And let's be real, a woman's perspective is something the art world desperately needs more of. Studies indicate that women artists are significantly underrepresented in commercial galleries and the rate is even lower in museums. Think of women’s art as a solid investment in both art and dismantling the patriarchy, one brushstroke at a time.

Championing Women-Owned Businesses (Shop Smarter, Not Harder):

Ditch the big-box stores. Support women-owned businesses. You'll find better quality, unique products, and you'll be putting your money where it actually makes a difference. That indie boutique with the perfect linen dress? That's where you should be shopping. That bakery run by women? You'll taste the difference.

I am a member of Women4Women, an Atlanta-based organization that empowers small business owners. Women4Women strives to build connections, increase collaboration and aid in business growth. Not to mention, this group is filled with amazing and insanely talented ladies. If you have any questions or would like more information about W4W please reach out.

Meg Link's (Not-So-Secret) Agenda:

Supporting women isn't a PR stunt. It's how I roll. Collaborate, donate, and amplify. Because a rising tide lifts all boats, and we're not afraid to rock the boat a little.

Call to Action (No Fluff, Just Action):

  • Buy art from women. Period.

  • Shop women-owned. Your closet and your conscience will thank you.

  • Amplify women's voices. Share their stories.

Let’s move past the platitudes and actually do something.
